Hey guys, have some links and stuff! (PyraCorp Inc. assumes no responsibility for employment loss, mental scarring, or brainworms associated with this post.)

Dr. Mario with lyrics. My favourite part is Bowser's confused whimper as he's diagnosed with Human Papillomavirus.
Soulja Boy Ruins Mother 3 Music. Wess and the phrase "crank dat" shouldn't come within 100 yards of each other. BUT I CAN'T STOP WATCHING IT.
Smooth Criminal (Ice Cap Zone remix). Michael Jackson and Sonic the Hedgehog work surprisingly well together!
BigButtRoll -- Sir Mixalot vs. Rick Astley. For when you want to Rickroll someone, but you're worried that normal Rickrolling just isn't classy enough.
Ode To The Minions. You know it's touching when you start feeling bad for killing Goddamn Bats.
Everyone Pees In The Shower. Also, the same guys doing an a cappella medley of 90's cartoon themes. Because everything is cooler when performed a cappella.
Kirby is a fucking monster. Sound effects = instant hilarity.
Drinking Out Of Cups. Apparently the audio is from some guy who got really high and locked himself in a closet to babble aimlessly. And his friends are hilarious jerks with CGI talent, or something. See, the really funny part is that my mom showed me this video, which isn't exactly IC for her but she was totally laughing her ass off, so.
Foxes on a trampoline. Bad day at work? Cute animal videos. Slept lousy? Cute animal videos. World War III? CUTE ANIMAL VIDEOS, DAMNIT.
Cat grooming a fennec. AND THEN MORE CUTE ANIMAL VIDEOS.

I have 44K of my NaNo done right now. If my life were an unbelievably stupid action movie, this would be the part where me and the NaNo novel are in fighting stances opposite each other, and I lift my hand and do the "bring it" beckoning thing. And then the dinosaurs arrive.

I'm at about 23K on my NaNo. See, I can pound out 3K in a day whenever I put my mind to it, I'm just lazy and really hating how melodramatic and pointless the draft is right now. I plan on bribing myself with a stupid nonsensical ninja invasion scene at the end of the month.

In other news, I'm makin' ribs! Here, have my recipe, make 'em for someone you like but for the love of all things holy, wait until ribs are on sale!

And oh, what's this? A meme from [info]neutraltwin? Don't mind if I do!

I've always bemoaned the way I can't be as artful in my original works as I can in fanfic. Writing about non-humans means that there's enough for readers to get confused about without me making misty comparisons and teaching the syntax to do yoga. So I tried to make Remedy's opening digestable, if not the pinnacle of literature.

I've been dumping out NaNo words, examining yet again how to build a story-world. And I've been reading. Tonight in the shower, my writerbrain said, "When Peregrine first laid chisel to stone ..."
What, I said while washing out shampoo, what? Do you have an idea for combining actual literary whatever with the non-humans? And maybe getting Timmy out of that well?!
"When Peregrine first laid chisel to stone," the writerbrain calmly said, "And applied his hammer to it, he had found the first age-hoary feather in his mane. Tillian was a newborn kitten, still gummy around the eyes. Perhaps Peregrine shouldn't be dragging another friend into this, he thought, and then lost himself again in the numbing hammerstrokes."
And so I was all AAAAAAAAAAA, hurrying up with the cleanliness and scratching this stuff down while still dripping wet. I. Think I might have just levelled up.

Frickin' hell, brain, you could do these things on nights where I haven't forgotten my laptop at work. But still, thanks. Maybe we can smack Remedy around some more after NaNo?

Aaaand I'll get to the memes when I'm on my own machine, I just needed to, I dunno, share my delirious joy.

I dunno, I could go for some sheepery.

Name a fandom and I'll tell you 3 pairings I love, 2 pairings I consider shipping, and 1 pairing I hate.

I like to slurp up spoilers and fangoodies for series I've never played/watched/whatever, so if you're not sure whether I'm familiar with a fandom, ask anyway!

Hey, guys. Especially you flisties having a lame time of your personal whatever. I'm sick of feeling whiny and I bet some of you are, too, so let's do a positivity meme! I didn't find this anywhere, I'm just pulling it out of my ass.

Post 10 positive things that have happened to you recently. They don't have to be big or impressive, as long as they pleased you or brought a smile to your face.

1) I figured out how to make miso ramen. No wonder this stuff is Maya Fey's favourite food in the original games, miso ramen is freaking awesome.
2) My second ear piercings are finally healing up.
3) I have clean laundry right now!
4) It doesn't seem to matter what I play out with Duster in [info]paradisa, the guy just makes me happy.
5) The workplace gave me a pretty teapot. Well, more like the handle was slightly broken and they were going to throw it out, and had no objections to me rescuing the teapot. Same difference.
6) I found War and Peace in paperback, in the local library. It really is a hilariously huge novel. After NaNo, I plan on checking it out and attempting to read it, mostly for the lulz.
7) I found a penny on the street today. What? I kinda like pennies.
8) My mom has picked up some of my pizza-making techniques, and she and Dad enjoy the results more than their previous incarnate of homemade pizza.
9) It may be chilly outside, but that means it's fluffy scarf weather.
10) I wrote more than 1667 words today! Aww hell yeah!

Well? Let's see what you have to be happy about!

Uuuuuugh, I've had overall low energy for months and it's sucked quite a bit lately, but my doctor more or less said she's just going to blindly throw antidepressants at it if I bitch again. And I never want to see another fucking child again, why do they have voices like dentists' drills, just. I don't even. Still want that child-free city to live in.

Okay, there's my whining out of the way. What else is up? Well, you might enjoy this moderately NSFW Weebl song, or the Awkward Rap, or this parrot petting a cat. That's what's up!

BRB poking at my NaNo backlog. Geez, it's fun until you get behind schedule and the wordcount goes all Sisyphean on ya.

I'm pleasantly surprised at the fact that I can write 3500 words of rough draft in a day. Not to jinx it horribly or anything. Gosh, but I'm having fun with the local NaNo folks I've met so far, there are lots of people who care enough about writing to pour their energy into it, and yet can go AND THEN PIRATES INVADE AND FIGHT SOME ROBOTS. AND THE MAIN CHARACTER WAKES UP AND IT WAS ALL A DREAM LOLOLOLOL. Literary passion and stupid crack! <3

Oh, yeah, I'm Pyrasaur on the NaNo site, for you folks who are into that (and able to access the poor trampled server).

Aaaand me and Dash are currently having a stupid debate over whether H1N1 can be considered sexually transmitted, 'cause, like, making out with someone who has the flu will get you sick, right? Further bulletins as derp warrants.

Okay, going to wash the green crunchies out of my hair now. And then get some sleep before I have to start NaNo, 'scuse me while I cry forever.

Guys, guys! Plants vs. Zombies is half price this weekend only! For those of you unfamiliar with this thing, it's a tower defense game. In which you fight off hordes of zombies. With plants. And it is awesome.

And here's the long awaited talking-aimlessly meme!

My roommate Dash is a furry who likes to DISTRACT ME FROM THINGS FRIG GEEZ, if you're wondering about that. And like I say in the video, if you want to hear me talk on the subject of your choice sometime, ask a question in this entry! No holds barred! Sate any curiosity you wish! I enjoy talking, as you may be able to tell!

And thanks for the input on the mob lobster (mobster?) idea, flist. But after hashing out some plot and character ideas, I realize that I'm not really into writing crime syndicate intrigue stuff and I'd probably lose interest in the project as soon as it got more complex than "chick wheedling crustacean into explaining itself". I'll store the idea for later, and try hybridizing it with fantasy things that are more to my tastes.

Okay, I had an idea for something cracky and fast-paced to do for NaNo. Tell me if this sounds workable outside my own fuzzy little head.

This chick buys a lobster for dinner. She usually buys the pre-butchered ones, because all animals are able to parrot human language in this AU Earth, but whatever, today the market was fresh out and Chickie had to buy a live, still-babbling lobster. She takes this thing home, she's about to dunk it in boiling water, when it says, "cap him next week" or something.

What? It was just coincidence, right? Lobsters have been proven to have no significant cognitive function? Chickie thought so, but she looks into where the lobster came from and its marketplace tank is right beside where some thug types hang out. This lobster knows shit about the mob. Someone is apparently going to die unless Chickie can wring more information out of her would-be dinner, and avoid getting her own goose cooked at the same time.

So, stupidest thing you've ever heard, or stupidest awesome thing you've ever heard?

Just for kicks, I downloaded Mother 1/Earthbound Zero to see if I could persuade it to work on my Mac. Turns out it's so easy, even a caveman Pyrasaur can do it! I just got the third melody. So far, I'm basically thinking of this as Earthbound Except It Doesn't Like Your Face, but that's okay, I'm a freak and I enjoy random encounter levelgrinding. I can definitely see why Mother 3 was so different from its predecessors, though. The history of the Mother series is cool, but I think Mother 3 would have been a weaker story if it had wallowed in all this stylistic tradition rather than developing it.

Pokemon-Sapphire-wise, I'm training my Lanturn and Loudred to suitable levels before I reattempt the Elite 4. Screw the Contests. Seriously. It's like playing Mario Kart with the new sadistic AI. Screw catching a Feebas, too, six squares that keep changing, what the hell. Like, back in the day, if I wanted to waste my young life, I saved tokens for a Porygon and that was about it, man. Maybe caught stuff in the Safari Zone and gave it stupid names. Chain-breeding moves for a real-time day is as crazy as I go. Like, geez. I'll be cruising around with mah awesome thunderbolt-chucking anglerfish, beating up Lasses and Cooltrainers for their lunch money, if anyone needs me.

You know what? I don't think I've ever posted all the (decent) icons I've made. Weird, since I normally pimp my creative whatever like a mad pimping thing. So, uh. Check it out!

Contains various video game and animation fandoms, lolcats, explosions and netspeak. )

And now I must rebuild the nest of blankets that keeps my old crappy mattress from poking me. But I wanna go to bed nowwww. *whines forever*

The more I read up on Serious Social Issues as presented by the Internet, the more it seems like people as a whole are just as xenophobic and intolerant as they were hundreds of years ago. Opinions are opinions. Everyone has a right to think whatever they want. Those opinions are only wrong if they're used to deny rights to others -- you know, like how your right to swing your fist ends where someone else's nose begins. But there seems to be this attitude among some people with liberal views (sexual freedom, gay rights, women's rights, etc.) that they're justified in pushing their thoughts on -- or outright attacking -- people with conservative views. I keep seeing editoral columnists getting shouted down. Minority opinions get dogpiled by angry commenters all the time. People with WRONG OPINIONS OMG getting antagonized by random strangers? That's not really any better than historical examples of missionaries forcing their One True Religion on people, or young people being told sex is dirty and they're unclean if they think about it. No, no, it's completely different because feminism and racial equality are correct! It's not like those missionaries and sexually prudent people were sure they were correct! Just ... ugh. I really need to ignore this stuff and stick to fandom crack, for my mental health, I just can't believe how hypocritical it is to have an aggressive attitude about everyone being equal.

Aaaaanyway, and I finally figured out how to open the captured-ball earrings I had put in in May. Man, I feel dumb! But at least I got them open, because the piercings were infected and in need of attention. Other than that, ehh, nothing new going on here. Except that Canadian Thanksgiving is over and tonight I'll be making a vat of turkey soup. Further bulletins as deliciousness warrants.

All the girls at work are planning Halloween party-hoppity antics, so I'm thinking, hey, I should join them. Dressed up as some sort of slutty birdgirl (because I have leftover cosplay feathers). I still have freakishly good luck costume hunting in secondhand stores, so today I found parrotgirl components, some assembly required. Yes, there'll be pictures. And fanservice.

And I saw District 9. First one to guess where Pyra's species loyalty lies gets some delicious cat food! It's the fancy kind with gravy. )

... Me and Dash have this injoke about how Captain Olimar waits until the absolute last second to get into his ship at night. Imagine Olimar frantically drilling parts onto the Dolphin, occasionally glancing behind him to make D: D: D: faces at the approaching slavering predators, and eventually giving up and slapping duct tape all over the ship. All Dash has to do is randomly make a drill sound to make me crack up. The drill used on Wikus's arm in District 9? Sounds exactly like Dashie's little bvvvrr! bvvvrr! sound. I did some highly inappropriate sporfling in that movie theatre, lemme tell you.

And now, if you'll excuse me, I must eat the results of a house restocked with groceries. I has a potato frittata! \o/

This nice homeless guy came into the restaurant today. Piled out all his change (and cigarette butts and random scraps of paper) into my hands, and asked for whatever food that would buy. Fortunately, this is Canada and the change included two-dollar coins, so he had enough for rice and miso soup and a salad -- y'know, a decent meal. He had me microwave the salad. Boggled the kitchen staff's minds reeeeeal good, but hey, I touched that guy's cold hands, I wouldn't want to eat cold salad, either.

Okay, that's enough being poignant. Dash asked me why he keeps accidentally kicking stuff! I told him it's because he's master of his own destiny or something.

Dropping Olimar from [info]paradisa was surprisingly easy for me. Love the little guy, but he's better off at home with his family. And other residents meeting each other via "I knew Olimar too, he was cool" made me squishy. So squishy.

I don't feel like reading this latest Margaret Atwood novel I borrowed from Mom. I mean, Atwood's style is gorgeous but I'm so not feeling "woman struggles to find herself and also, society is misogynistic" stories lately. I get enough of that in Fandom!Secrets comments, blegh. So there's been more training of my Pokeymans instead of reading! I'm raising a Chinchou as predicted. And I'm going to replace my Manectric with an Exploud, those seem surprisingly solid. Being immune to Roar of Time just makes me roffle my waffles even though there's no Dialga in Sapphire, hey, I can dream.

... Going to go play Pokemon Puzzle League, why did I have to go and remember that I have an N64?

It's unseasonably cold and rainy here, but since it's only September the heat isn't on in my apartment yet. Guess I'll have to cook delicious food for warmth! :Dd I'm baking some maple-buttered pumpkin right now.

The kitchen at work is short-handed, so I've worked a few kitchen shifts. They've been really boring shifts (due to the aforementioned unseasonable cold that makes customers freak out and refuse to leave the house). So I've spent the time cleaning. Various nasty little greasy corners of the kitchen that no one else bothers to look at. I actually really enjoy getting down on my knees and scrubbing stuff that makes everyone else go EW NO. It's so fulfilling to know that no one else would have done it but, look, it's all shiny now!

What's that? Post a meme? Weeeeell, if you insist.
